John Roberts
During his time at the Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI)’s Office of Professional Responsibility, Unit Chief John Roberts was the key investigator responsible for uncovering misconduct in many high-profile FBI scandals, including the Ruby Ridge shootings. Then Stephen Kohn, NWC Board Chair and Roberts’ attorney, obtained his permission to speak out in a 60 Minutes segment about illegal retaliation within the FBI.
Roberts was retaliated against immediately after the broadcast by the FBI. A Justice Department Office of the Inspector General investigation confirmed the retaliation, and the Assistant Director of the FBI at the time was removed from his position for his mistreatment of Roberts, the first time an FBI senior level manager faced such a dismissal.
