Black Friday. Cyber Monday. #GivingTuesday
Washington, D.C. November 1, 2016. The National Whistleblower Center will once again participate in #GivingTuesday, a global day of giving that harnesses the collective power of individuals, communities and organizations to encourage philanthropy and celebrate generosity worldwide. #GivingTuesday is a collaborative effort to transform how people think about, talk about and participate in the giving season. The NWC’s end-of-year campaign theme, #BecauseOfWBs, highlights the indispensable role of whistleblowers in combating corruption and fraud in a variety of sectors—including international banking, national security, wildlife trafficking, and government contracting.
Giving Tuesday is annually held the Tuesday after Thanksgiving, and the widely recognized shopping events Black Friday and Cyber Monday, to kick-off the holiday giving season and inspire people to give back in impactful ways to the charities and causes they support. This year Giving Tuesday falls on November 29th.
To maximize the impact of every contribution, the NWC has secured a matching gift of up to $10,000! From today through Giving Tuesday, every dollar you donate up to $10,000 will be doubled. Every contribution—no matter the size—will support NWC’s work on behalf of whistleblowers.
The National Whistleblower Center has made massive progress on behalf of whistleblowers by leading grassroots efforts to protect their rights under laws like the False Claims Act and Dodd-Frank Act, establish new protections for wildlife whistleblowers, and enact a permanent National Whistleblower Day to recognize whistleblowers.
Follow the National Whistleblower Center on Twitter (@StopFraud) and Facebook on #GivingTuesday and throughout the holiday season as we share examples of our work and highlight the critical importance of whistleblowers through our #BecauseOfWBs campaign.
