WASHINGTON, D.C. | July 28, 2021 — Senator Joni Ernst (R-IA) will deliver an address showing her support for whistleblowers at the National Whistleblower Day 2021 celebration on July 29th at 12:35 PM EDT.
Sen. Ernst has shown steadfast support for whistleblowers throughout her time as a legislator. She has sponsored several bills advancing the rights of whistleblowers, including the Dr. Chris Kirkpatrick Whistleblower Protection Act, which strengthened protections for Department of Veterans Affairs whistleblowers.
Ernst has also supported Senate resolutions designating July 30th as National Whistleblower Day to honor the first whistleblower law passed in the U.S. on July 30th, 1778.
In 2016, Ernst joined the Senate Whistleblower Protection Caucus, a group of senators who push to advance whistleblower protections in Congress. In her National Whistleblower Day address, Ernst will speak about the current state of whistleblower protections in the U.S. She will touch on further steps to protect and encourage whistleblowers to step forward to report fraud.
Ernst’s address will air on Wednesday, July 29th, at 12:35 EDT.
Members of the media are encouraged to RSVP for National Whistleblower Day 2021 for updates and a link to join the event.
