WASHINGTON, D.C. | July 28, 2021 — Representative John Garamendi (D-CA) will speak at the 2021 National Whistleblower Day celebration hosted by the National Whistleblower Center (NWC) on Thursday, July 29th. Members of the U.S. House and Senate will begin their remarks at 12:30 PM EDT as part of Thursday’s programming, “WHISTLEBLOWING WORKS! Government Leaders Celebrate Whistleblowers.”
An ardent whistleblower advocate, Rep. Garamendi has championed such whistleblower protection legislation as the Wildlife Conservation and Anti-Trafficking Act and the recent Peace Corps Reauthorization Act. Rep. Garamendi reintroduced the Peace Corps Reauthorization Act on March 1, 2021. The bill would extend the whistleblower and anti-retaliatory protections, which currently apply to Peace Corps contractors, to Peace Corps volunteers.
In his National Whistleblower Day address, Rep. Garamendi will speak about introducing this critical whistleblower protection bill for federal employees and volunteers.
Members of the media are encouraged to RSVP for National Whistleblower Day 2021 for updates and for a link to join the event.
