On Friday, July 14th, National Whistleblower Center sent thank you letters commending Senators Chuck Grassley (R-IA) and Ron Wyden (D-OR) for leading the way on the tenth annual Senate Resolution recognizing July 30th as National Whistleblower Appreciation Day.
For the tenth year in a row, the Senate has passed the resolution designating July 30, 2023, as “National Whistleblower Appreciation Day”. A campaign led tirelessly by Senator Chuck Grassley (R-IA) and Senator Ron Wyden (D-OR), National Whistleblower Appreciation Day recognizes the important work whistleblowers do for the American public and the environment.
July 30th is the anniversary of the first whistleblower law passed by the Founding Fathers, who acknowledged whistleblowers as protectors and a cornerstone of democracy. By passing this resolution, Senator Grassley and Senator Wyden not only continue an amazing tradition of whistleblower law in United States history but also encourage Americans to know their right to blow the whistle.
Having this day to celebrate whistleblowers is significant because their work impacts everyone and everywhere. Whistleblowers deserve recognition for their bravery, which inspires future whistleblowers to speak out against corruption or fraud they see.
On National Whistleblower Appreciation Day, we listen to whistleblowers to learn about their stories. By giving whistleblowers proper recognition, we all can advocate for stronger whistleblower protections.
NWC is truly grateful to Senator Grassley, Senator Wyden, and the Senate Whistleblower Protection Caucus for their work.
National Whistleblower Center will celebrate this incredible achievement on July 27th, 2023 on Capitol Hill.
