WASHINGTON, D.C. | July 26, 2021 — National Whistleblower Center’s (NWC) National Whistleblower Day celebration will begin on Wednesday, July 28th, 2021. The virtual event will run three days of programming, culminating with the official “National Whistleblower Day” celebration on Friday, July 30th, 2021.
On Wednesday, July 28th, NWC will present “GLOBAL WHISTLEBLOWERS: Advocates from Around the World,” highlighting panels and whistleblower stories from Australia, the U.K. and the EU, beginning at 7 AM EDT. At 1:00 PM EDT, an interview of Senator Charles Grassley (R-IA) by FBI whistleblower and National Whistleblower Day Mistress of Ceremonies Jane Turner will also be featured.
On Thursday, July 29th, NWC will present “WHISTLEBLOWING WORKS! Government Leaders Celebrate Whistleblowers” at 10 AM EDT. It features keynote addresses from SEC Chairman Gary Gensler, Senator Chuck Grassley, and Department of Labor Secretary Marty Walsh, starting at 11AM EDT. Additionally, speakers from the House and Senate Whistleblower Protection Caucus will speak in support of whistleblowers.
On Friday, July 30th, NWC will present “NATIONAL WHISTLEBLOWER DAY! Recognizing Whistleblowers and Understanding Whistleblower Protections” at 10 AM EDT. Friday’s programming will feature panels on federal employee whistleblower protections, life after whistleblowing, wildlife whistleblower laws, tax, and social media whistleblowing, money laundering, and more. Whistleblower Network News will present whistleblower stories featuring Peace Corps whistleblower Sara Thompson, Coast Guard whistleblower Kimberly Young-McLear, Veterans Affairs whistleblower Allison Gill, and UBS whistleblower Brad Birkenfeld.
